Meet Jaclyn Beck, Guest of EP 9

Jaclyn is a 3rd year PhD student studying Alzheimer's disease. She wants to find out what goes wrong during normal aging that causes some people to get the disease and others to be just fine! Her favorite brain cells are called microglia, and they are the brain's immune system. There is a lot of evidence that aging microglia play a role in developing AD, so she uses stem cells to study this interaction. When not in the lab, Jaclyn loves reading fantasy and sci-fi books, binge-watching TV shows, and dancing.

And now, a haiku from our guest:

Aged #microglia

Amyloid uptake failure

#Alzheimers Disease
